I DON'T CARE WHAT ANY OF YOU NORTHERNERS SAY (SHURRUP, JIAH! CANADA IS SUPPOSED TO BE LIKE THAT), BUT 60 DEGREES IS F-ING COLD!

*whimpers*

...thankfully, the sweatshirt [info]rasgos_76 sent me last year is keeping me nice and warm ^___^;;; ...but I might have to pull out the gloves I got from [info]maikan if the weather gets down into the 50s. ._.;;;

Anyway...

In other news: I'm rethinking the Costa Rica thing. Maybe I shouldn't attempt it this year. Hear me out. This isn't because of a "woe is me, I can't do it so I shouldn't try" thing. This is because of A) it's a lot of money to be saving for, B) they offer this study abroad program every summer, and C) it would actually be better for me to go on the 2008 excursion because then the courses I'd be studying over there if I go in 2008? Would be two of the harder-to-get higher-level courses that only get offered once a year here. While if I go in 2007? It would be one of the classes offered more often here and one of the harder-to-get higher-level courses.

...so it would actually be to my benefit if I wait one more year.

I don't have so much of a problem with this idea...as if means that my dad and mom now have no excuse to not get me a new phone and a new computer :D They threatened me last night by giving me a choice of computer and cell phone or Costa Rica. XD;;; That was mean of them~ Plus, Mom is still wondering if I'd be okay by myself and giving her a whole year to get comfortable with the idea that one of her babies are going to more than leave the nest but the forest that the nest is in is probably a good idea. ^___^;;

So yeah...that's what's going on.

On the school side of things: Essay could be better. Will work on it on Sunday or Monday...maybe not Sunday because I'll be WAY too exhausted because of all the stuff going on this weekend (KILL THE PERSON WHO THOUGHT OF THE IDEA OF HAVING A HOMECOMING! *hisses*) with me being in the band and all...so yeah.

Besides that, I talked to the Secretary of the Foreign Language Department (who is awsum and she knows me well since I was the only Foreign Language person to be taken under her wing during my Freshmen Orientation ^___^;;;) Mrs. Bancks to see about some things and to see how much Elective hours I had left and such. And uh...

...my elective hours are being eaten by my Spanish classes...

How does that work?

I was originally just a French Major...then I decided I wanted to switch to a French and Spanish double-Major. Right now, all the free elective hours offered to me is 42 hours (a lot, I know) which is being used to get my Spanish classes since both French and Spanish have the same requirements and such for a Major. And they tack the Spanish hours to the elective hours because...yeah...in case I want to change it to a Minor instead of a Major (bah. you only WISH I'd do that!).

So yeah >.>;;; All of my elective hours are eaten up by what all I've taken already for the elective hours, band (which I need to have because they give me $800 a year :D;;;), and Spanish, so...I need to start focusing more on my General Studies requirements.

So...what all I've done: )

What I need to take: )

...is it bad that I just want to take a LOT of stuff?

And it seems like there's not enough time, not enough money, and...argh. Wanna take a lot of stuff that would be considered elective hours in my Major~ D:

...yeah, I'm going to be one of those people going to college for 20 years in a row. Yep. >.>;;;; Um...yeah...:D;;;

And yeah...that's...pretty much what I need to focus on...choosing what I want to do, sacrifice my elective hours for things required of my majors. Even though I really REALLY wish I can take that creative writing class. *siiiiighs* Oh well...maybe I can do all that I want without having to worry too much...just need...a job...or something >.>;; Money would be nice...
.

I seriously need a job...

So went to Spanish and then History and after that I went straight to my Spanish professor's office because he said he had information about the Costa Rica thing and all. So...yeah. I went and we discussed things.

Apparently I was right when I said this would be a major ouchies in the wallet.

$3,800 (and is subject to change)

And all of that pays for:

- Roundtrip airfare
- LA Tech tuition for six semester hours credit
- Forester Institute fees
- Books, workbooks, and handouts
- Home stays
- Two meals daily
- Laundry service
- Weekly excursions
- One weekend trip to Manuel Antonio
- Airport transfers to and from the Institute
- Latin Dance class (<---seriously? O_o;;;)
- Internet access daily (<---huzzah! scratch wanting a desktop, gimme a laptop, daddy-dearest!)
- Health insurance for durantion of the trip

And that's from June 3rd until June 30th.

...ho crap...*looks at bank account that is showing $0.48 and whimpers*

But yeah...um...if I forego getting glasses until after the Costa Rica thing...it might be possible...or something...if my dad can save up the money and if I get a job this winter.

And yes, there ARE scholarship options. There are two scholarships being offered from the school itself but each is probably going to only one person adn I don't think I'll stand much of a chance.

And then there's the whole Sigma Delta Pi thing...see, I might join it. Sigma Delta Pi is basically a National Spanish Honor Society or something and uh...I'm eligable to make it in after I get done with this class of Spanish. And since I've gotten an A and a B in my previous classes and I'm doing well in this class...so I'm most likely going to get the 3.0 average of requirement...and the best thing is that Sigma Delta Pi also offers a scholarship that can help me with the Costa Rica thing...but again, I seriously doubt I'll get it.

I'll still try for these scholarships but it'll probably still be wisest to save money--just in case, ya know? Plus, if we save money and I DO get the scholarship money, that just means more money for me to get souvenirs and such and maye even a new computer or something, right? ^___^;;;

So yeah...that's the situation right now. I don't really have to worry about things too much until January 11th, really because that's when the Information Meeting is. So...yeah.

...

If I could get to do this, it'll be like...the best thing to have ever happened to me in my entire life. I'm serious.

And uh...more updates on other things later. Still...trying to process everything Dr. De Feo and I talked about and all. Uh...

Yeah. >.>;;;
.

End of the day update thing...

So...ended up having an in-door band rehearsal because it rained. Whoohoo! What love~

Then Spanish meeting. Yep. Had fun there.

Got a phone call from my dad during it though. And he told me some fairly bad news.

Foon/Shiz's boyfriend Tim? He got into a car wreck sometime today. Dunno how he's doing except that he's in a good stable condition. Probably no broken bones. Still, it's a bit scary because poor Tim...he's got such a horrible home life and he's won the battle against cancer and then more crap like this. And he had just gotten that car, too. *siiighs* I feel really bad to him.

But yeah >.>;;;

Told Dad about the Costa Rica thing and he's all for shipping me out to some foreign country XD;;; Just uh...need to find out the price. I talked to Dr. De Feo about it and he said 1) yes, I could survive in a totally foreign country that speaks Spanish (yey) and 2) he'd find out how much it would be to go on this excursion for me. :D He's a nice teacher~

...'course we all know it's going to be like...bunches over $1,000. D:

Oh well. *sighs* Still going to try for it!

...even though it might mean I'll miss Akon for a second year in a row if I do go >.>;;;

Ah well. *sighs*

In other news! I love Façade from the Jekyll and Hyde soundtrack. ♥

And that's all from me tonight! Except for responding to comments and such. In about an hour, I'm gonna be heading back to my dorm, so...yeah. :D Have at~!

VICTOLY! ...*falls over*

Okay, so. English. Yey. Finished my essay--rough draft--whatever. It's a bit too short to be ready for a final draft yet but thankfully, rough draft and peer editing and yey. And I'm going to fix it up tomorrow night and post it for you guys to tear apart and whatnot. Because...uh...you guys love me, right (especially you English Majors out there)? ♥?

But yeah. Had fun in class.

I love my teacher ^___^;;;

Professor: "How many essays do we have in this class?"
Class: "..." ;;;
Professor: "Thhhhh--" *holding up five fingers and then lowers one* "Four. You've already done one essay, we're doing our second one now, and we have two more left. And one of them is reeeeeeeeally long. 8 pages."
Boy 1: "...THAT'S 7 PAGES TOO LONG!"
Class: XDDDD!

Professor: "8. Not including your...?"
Class: *blandly* "Works Cited."
Boy 2: "...so a title page counts!"
Class: XDDD

I love my English class so much ♥

Anyway. Tonight is a busy night, yey~

I have about another 2 hours to play around on the computer--little less because then I need to get food and then run to the band hall to catch a ride over to the Grinder. Then it's band from 4:30 until 6:30 and then I have to get something to eat and then at 7, there's the Spanish tutoring meeting. Yosh.

...I'm thinking about asking Dr. De Feo if he thinks I could survive in a study abroad thing in Costa Rica. >.>;;; I mean...even if it will cost well over $1,000 to go...I still want to try for it. So...if he thinks I can survive...I might try for it. Get a job in the winter...put money aside as I go...

It could work out.

*trying to think positively*

Then after Spanish meeting...uh...I'll play on the computer some. :D! Because it's totally fun to do that kind of stuff, whut. :D!

Btw, love for [info]rasgos_76 and [info]juneaddams for chatting with me while I was working on my essay *thumbs up for you both* Oh, and BIG thanks to [info]candy__chan for giving me the Jekyll and Hyde soundtrack again for the...what? Third...fourth time? XD;;; This is why I love my online peeps. You guys rock. :D
