I thought this would have been a simple and easy thing to cook.

I endeavored to make blueberry muffins.

You know, out of those packs of muffin mix?

I pulled them out of the oven and they looked brilliant. So I was all happy and whatnot. Then when I pulled one of the muffins out of the pan, I felt betrayed and very much like crying.

... hell, I'll admit it now. I teared up. No, seriously. I was SO close to crying over it.

The muffins looked fine. I pulled them out of the pan and the bottoms were burnt.

I looked over to Sara with this kind of horrified, kicked!puppy look, showing her the burnt bottoms of the muffins and... yeah. I was laughing along with her but still so close to crying.

Sara said that it was probably because the gas oven isn't that well balanced with its heat distribution. I reminded her that I had said the batter looked too runny when I'd started making the damned things. "Maybe I should have added flour?"

Sara reassured me that it was okay and, yeah, it happens to everyone, and stuff.

...

But I burnt my first batch of muffins. D:

Why couldn't they have come out as perfect as my grilled cheese sammiches? ;o;
