So. Sitting in French Lit today, we were going over Boule de Suif which of course I failed at reading. So discussion caught me pleasantly off guard. (Note: Yes, we really talk back and forth in French and English like I have written.)

And then we went into talking about the story which is all a critique on the classes and how they're viewed. But it does take place during the Prussian occupation of the French regions of Lorraine and Alsace and thus has a Prussian who gets Boule de Suif, a prostitute who originally didn't want to but was pressured by the others (mostly "les gens respectables", aka the higher-classes) in her traveling party because the Prussian said he wouldn't let them leave if she didn't, to sleep with him. And... yeah.

Hahaha~ I love getting ping'd like that. I was trying not to grin the whole time because FUCK YEAH Prussia! T-though yeah, bad image in French literature.

I also love how DeMattos mentions that there's a story where a French woman had syphilis and knew she was going to die, so she slept with as many Prussians as she could to spread the disease. Oh you, France.

And of course, it's partly because of the Franco-Prussian War, where-in Lorraine and Alsace (basically France's financial backbone at the time) were taken by Prussia and afterwhich Prussia forced France to pay 5 million (or did he say cinq mille, in which case it was 5 thousand? I CAN'T REMEMBER) francs in gold, that France supported the Treaty of Versailles where the same thing happened--but to Germany--after the First World War. From how DeMattos explains it. And yeah, remember, that's just partly.

So Candy and I were talking and since I've been translating Arsène Lupin contre Herlock Sholmès from its original French, of course Kaitou Kid was brought up. Then came Candy's inquiry of how Shinichi would have faired against Toichi, and I maintained that it might have been a bit difficult. Which eventually led to us discussing how Shinichi is always just ONE CLUE SHORT whenever his father Yuusaku shows up in canon.

Which then led to this wonderful bit of dialogue:

And there are some other things that go along with this simple explanation that I could get into but meh, I can't tell if I'm serious about this or not. But really, this does explain why the hell people still seem to latch onto me even when I know for a fact that, at times, I'm way more trouble than I'm worth or something. That and I always want to help people, keep them smiling, do whatever I can for them and sometimes at expense to myself--BECAUSE I STILL AM LEARNING THE FINE ART OF KNOWING WHEN NOT TO OVER-DO THINGS.

And let's not forget all the stupidity that I'm known for~ The moments where I state the obvious, ask dumb questions, forget things like names and faces (ahahaha, "Who are you again?" indeed), only to turn around and give like... long monologues full of analogies that supposedly help more people than I think because I'm mostly saying it for myself really.

GUYS. I'M A SHOUNEN RETARD ONLY NOT AND I NEVER KNEW THIS WHY?

... probably because I wasn't when I was growing up? Or I was and didn't know it. Ah. Because I used to care about what people thought about me, about fitting in, about... all those things--doing things that were accepted by others only because I thought I would be able to make friends that way.

Why is it that when I go the opposite route and do things that I know other people won't approve of that I find myself being surrounded more and more by people who will stay with me more than a few years? Um...

Either this person is well-off enough to get new bedding every year or this is a Freshmen. In fact, a lot of their stuff looks new... well, truth be told, they only have a TV, a microwave, and a tub-thing with a dry-eraser board/cork board in the room so far, but yeah... I'm betting on Freshmen just because of the bedding, really. It's all nice and stiff and stuff... and still has the misfolds of the store packaging.

... either that, or they're REALLY good at keeping their comforters looking nice and new while mine (which I've had for 3 years now), has definitely seen better days but doesn't look horrible, just lived in. *shrugs* I plan to get new bedding sometime this quarter anyway.

Well, morning hasn't made things too much better.

One reason being that I only got 5 hours of sleep...maybe even less because I apparently fail at the whole "relax and go to sleep" bit of things.

All I know right now, though, is that I'm getting more and more wound up about this small assignment than I am about the stupid presentation that's due this Friday. Oh, did I forget to mention that said presentation also has a 3-to-5 paper that we have to turn into the professor? Yeah...

And why the hell should I stress out about this assignment, anyway? Just because I was the selected composer of the stupid thing doesn't mean I have to pull my hair out over it. It's only a worksheet assignment--that is, it's only us answering one question with maybe three paragraphs max.

So why the hell am I getting stressed over it?

Anyway. I looked down and saw that the scale said something around 195 lbs.

...THIS IS WITH MY SHOES AND BOOKSACK ON WHICH MEANS I'M PROBABLY ACTUALLY AROUND 190 LBS OR LESS WHICH MEANS THAT I'VE LOST ABOUT 10 LBS OR MORE SINCE THE BEGINNING OF THIS SUMMER WHEN I DISCOVERED I WAS AROUND 201.5 LBS BECAUSE I GAINED THE FRESHMEN 15!

Okay, I have to share because...yeah. This convo cracks me up.

Basically, I was snooping around some old threads in a Star Wars forum I used to go to, and yeah...I seriously miss C and Fire...they were like the Ton and Face from Wraith Squadron. *siiiighs*
