[Japan x Greece] common interests
Small Christmas was not small... just delayed.

I spent $146 on myself today--$100 of which was the $100 I got yesterday.

Where did it all go?

- 2 shirts (one long-sleeve, one summery thing)
- 6 pairs of socks (the white ones with the black fleur-de-lis on them will from now on be my lucky pair)
- 2 pairs of fingerless gloves/mittens (i.e. you can pull over the mitten part or leave them off)
- 1 pair of cute brown patch-work heels (m-my first pair of heels that I picked out myself because I convinced myself that I need to learn to walk in heels. also they were cute)
- ... a bunch of books.

Orz.

Most of the money, as you can probably guess, was spent at Hastings on those books. Which books?

- A beautiful hard-covered edition of The Wizard of Oz, which my mom found and was the most expensive ($40 w-what).
- The Brother Grimm's Fairytales, second expensive one ($18), paperback.

And the rest were paperbacks for under $10 each.
- The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas
- The Three Musketeers by Alexandre Dumas
- The Man in the Iron Mask by Alexandre Dumas
- The Legend of Sleepy Hollow and Other Tales by Washington Irving
- The Time Machine/The Invisible Man by H.G. Wells
- Doctor Jekyll and Mister Hyde by Robert Lewis Stevenson ($3)
- Beowulf ($3)

... l-let's just say that after nearly having a nervous breakdown about shopping for clothes (because I seriously get stressed the fuck out when clothes shopping because kfajlgkdf), going to the Classics section of Hastings brought me much joy and happyness.

I will so be working my way through these books. Uhuhu...

I was tempted to pick up some Victor Hugo and such but when Mom found the Wizard of Oz book... well...

... I need to get another shelf for my books soon :|

I-I am so not used to spending money on myself but omg soawesome.
.

How 'bout some masochism with that sadism?

So. Because I am a brilliant person, I end up leaving my school ID (also the only means to get food from the caf) at the bookstore this Friday and didn't notice until Saturday.

This means that I went the whole weekend surviving on two or three things of ramen.

... yey.

Also, I smartly decided to watch cooking shows Sunday night. Emeril, some American Iron Chef, some other Food Network show...

Needless to say that I was (still am, actually, gonna go eat here shortly) hungry. And had nothing to eat and no money to get food. ;o;

Luckily, I recovered my ID this morning and got a quick snack before going into my French class with DeMattos fully prepared! I read Madame de Staël's biography as well as François-René de Chateaubriand's biography and Le Mal du siècle, which is an excerpt from his work René (which I just read a summary of on wikipedia and wtf that ending).

Read all of that and we didn't even touch on any of these things in class today DX

Oh, well. I'm pretty prepared for when we do go over them in class. STAYING ONE STEP AHEAD, BOHAHAHAHA!

Also, I have 2 articles I have to read and then present to my class, so people on my flist who have knowledge of French: aidez-moi, s'il vous plaît? I'll probably write a post on them whenever I get around to them.

Also, am out of hermit more, sort of. I'm feeling kind of detached from the internet and, in relation, RPing. So... I think it'll get better once I get everything all balanced out. I seem to go through phases on this. It'll pass~ It'll pass~

And now for a meme!

Your Spiritual Number is Five

You bring adventure and change to people's lives.

You are willing to challenge your friends and push them to grow.

Right now, your life is about figuring out where to direct your energy.

If you're not careful, you can become too unreliable or flighty. You need the perfect project.

You live a free form life - which allows you to be very innovative and a great problem solver.

Rules, schedules, and structure practically destroy you. You have to do things your own way.

... eeeeeeeeeeeh.

EDIT: Corndog, fries, chicken creole, and a salad later, I feel more alive. Not full, really, but no feasts after a famine and all that.

Things have gotten a bit better since that phone post. Pretty much right after I made it, I had a bit of a breakdown and ended up sitting outside crying like a baby all sad and alone and yeah. I'm better now and mostly over it.

Partly because I spent the rest of that night, morning, and early afternoon that followed cleaning my room, reading Frankenstein ([info]bentley, I blame you), and then watching 23.

... in regards to Frankenstein, all I can say is D: Pop culture so skews what really happens in the novel. It kind of makes me sad. I actually never read the book until last night and always thought, you know, Frankenstein = mad scientist ultimately killed by his own creation and the monster = misunderstood giant. Both impressions are... somewhat true, but not exactly because ahaha.

Neither are evil but simply... well, human. Even the monster. Which makes the story rather sad, really.

... I so need to RP Stein's reaction to the book at some point or something. Because I so think he wouldn't like it much, except on a literature basis which >/ isn't really something he studies anyway.

I am not obsessive.

And I think you were right about my soul animal, Greenie. :<

In other news, today is my sister's 19th bday and as such, we are having a small get-together, party thing at my friend Patrick's place. I don't think I'll be online tonight, so here's a head's-up for that sort of thing.

Thanks, guys, who tried cheering me up earlier. It does help to know you try even though I fail at having internet access. |D ♥

I FEEL INSECURE (without my hat)
AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH MY CHILDHOOD

Sob. I actually love the ending though it took me 7 years to finally get around to reading it.

Dear brain,

Where have you been with the coughing up plot ideas for fics for the past year and why are you waiting for these recent things like the Hetalia and the reliving-my-childhood canons?

It woulda been great if you, you know, turned up sooner.

No love,
Me

Andrea was right. My brain is way too active.

I just finished watching a Sally Lockhart movie, The Shadow in the North and I knew it would end like that. Ahaha. So predictable~ And yet I was still going, "... don't kill off that character just because that happened. I like that character."

First time a character I liked got killed. You know. Besides Sirius Black. Boo.

But seriously, I've been wanting to watch or read a good mystery or suspense thriller in a while. And funny enough that the only reason I saw The Ruby in the Smoke was because I was flipping through channels on my tv and saw Billie Piper. Of course, I wasn't sure at first it was and lucky me, I ended up starting in on the show about 5 minutes in. Normally, I miss like a whole half of the Masterpiece Theater and have to look it up online. 's what I had to do for Casanova.

But yeah. Mysteries or things will puzzles like that are always enjoyable~ especially when I figure out what's going to happen before it happens. Ah. Yes. That is always fun.

I actually used to be horrible about that sort of thing, really. My sister Shorty was always faster, but I guess I've gotten better (worse?) about that sort of thing because yeah. Or maybe it's because Sally Lockhart isn't really on the same level as, say, Sherlock Holmes. Because I still find it hard to actually get Holmes stuff before it's revealed. Boo.

... I wants more mystery novels/movie-adaptations.

Ah well. *crams for une petite interrogation de français*

EDIT: 3:52PM - have no idea how ready for this little test I am but oh well.

P.S. Hard phonetic alphabet is hard. But getting the hang of it! And it is helping me with pronouncing my French better~

Sleeeeeeeepy and tired and stuff. But actually did things today on my day off!

Should have this situation with my dental insurance peeps settled by tomorrow (don't remember if I ranted about it here on LJ but I'll do that some day when I'm not tiiiiiiiiired).

Went to eat at some Italian-sounding place, I think. It was good! Then I went to Hastings and looked around and then babbled with a woman about the Star Wars Extended Universe books (omg, I am so far behind and am rediscovering my love for the series :<<<). Then I went to movie theater and saw Wall-E. Omg socute soadorable iluwall-e :<<<<

Aaaaaaaaand that's pretty much been my day. I'll babble more about my love for Star Wars books soon, I think :>

Also, have a meme!

You know I can never resist a good icon meme~ )

About to head out for work.

I actually don't have work until 11AM but Sanna and Joe have to go to a baptism that's like waaaaaaaaay far off or something, and ahahahaha. Oh well! I have a book that I'm rereading (shurrup, Arhu XP), to keep me entertained until I start work.

And then I have 7 long hours of saying the same thing over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over--

Did I ever mention that I hate repetitive tasks?

Stupid job paying good money and having flexible hours. DX

Oh well!

Later guys!

I just found out the most niftiest thing.

The website I got the original French version of Arsène Lupin contre Herlock Sholmès (Arsène Lupin versus Sherlock Holmes)? Also has the original French version of the following Lupin books:

L'Aiguille creuse (The Hollow Needle)
813
Le triangle d'or (The Golden Triangle)
L'Île aux trente cercueils (The Island of Thirty Coffins)
Les dents du tigre (The Tiger's Teeth)
Les huit coups de l'horloge (The Eight Strokes of the Clock)
La femme aux deux sourires (The Woman With Two Smiles)
L'Agence Barnett et Cie (The Barnett & Co. Agency)
La Demeure mystérieuse (The Mysterious Mansion)
La Barre-y-va
La Cagliostro se venge (The Revenge Of The Countess Of Cagliostro)

Not only that, but I spy some Voltaire on this site as well.

*evident GLEEFULNESS here*

So yeah.

I remember some people in the DC/MK fandom saying that's it's hard to get their hands on a copy of 813 or something... well... I could translate?

I'm already in the process of translating Arsène Lupin contre Herlock Sholmès, so... yeah.

... *squees*

She sent me the whole of Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events.

And Candy, know that I will only smile when you ask me what it is. |D

In other news, I passed right the fuck out at 5PM and woke up at 6:27PM. That puts my hours of sleep from last night and today to 5 hours at the most. Which will help me function for work tonight!

Then Saturday, I have a 5PM to 2AM shift.

Then Sunday, I have 6PM to 9PM.

HEY, [info]muffins_of_god, DIDN'T YOU SAY TO LET YOU KNOW IF I WAS EVER GONNA GET TO GO TO AN LSU GAME? FELLOW LOUISIANAIANS UNITE!

Besides all of that, ahaha. I think my English professor loves me--just like all the other one seemed to. Mrs. O, Mrs. Schuder, and now Mrs. V. |D *is a popular lady~* Yeah, and same with the Psychology professor--she's even taken to the habit of telling me not to answer things because she wants other people to answer |D I R TEH TOO SMART FER DESE CLASSES, YES?

But I'm still lazy as hell. Ah well. I SHALL DO THE ENGLISH READINGS AND LE PORTRAIT DE MON PÈRE POUR LA CLASSE DE FRANÇAIS EN LUNDI THIS WEEKEND--FTW.

FTW, YO.

And now I have another 30 minutes or so to chill before I have to get ready for work |D

Well, yeah.

I know I signed off around midnight. I probably finally got to sleep around 12:30 or 1. So. yeah. Woke up at 8:30. So, I either got 8 or 7 1/2 hours of sleep.

And of course, during the night my female body decided it really hated me. So not only do I have to deal with stress and exhaustion--I have to make sure that my blood sugar doesn't tank because of whatever mild case of anemia that time of the month causes. *sighs*

'Nother busy day today.

10AM-12PM Psych
2PM-3:45PM English
4:30PM-6:30PM Band
8PM-2AM Work

And somewhere between all of that, Sara's going to pick me up so I can get my paycheck and get it cashed and stuff. Ftw, yo. I has monies.

Oh, and speaking of monies, I have budgeted at least $30 for books from my paychecks. Only this time, I got impatient and used my refund monies. So yeah. Took the $30 for books off my budget for this paycheck. *thumbs up*

WHAT DID JEVA GET?

Books 1, 3, 6, and 7 of Jim Butcher's The Dresden Files. All of them with the shiny new covers. Now books 2, 4, and 5 need to get the new covers so I can have the complete collection DX

OH OH OH, DID ANYONE ELSE HEAR THAT JIM BUTCHER ALREADY RELEASED THE TITLE FOR THE NEXT BOOK? SQUEENESS! ♥~

And it is cold in my room and I need to get dressed and warmed up. Will be around for maybe another 20 minutes or so!
.

*WILL NEVER BE A MORNING PERSON*

Okay. Need to make a list for today or I'm going to forget something--well, I'll forget something anyway, but still...

- Get a shower
- Get dressed for the day (pack instrument which can and will be stashed in the band hall)
- Get to computer lab and type up and print out 1 1/2 pages of What I Think About Career Psychology And Those Damn Quizzes
- Get to Psych
- Get lunch
- Work on English journal #2
- Get to English
- Grab small snack at Tolliver
- Get instrument from band hall
- Get a ride to the Grinder
- Band from 4:30 to 6:30
- Get a ride to my dorm
- Get ready for work/relax
- Get to work by 8
- Work until 2AM
- GET TO SLEEP BY 4AM, DAMN IT.
- Get up at 1PM and work on French

*falls over* All this to do and yeah...

At least I have another day off from work tomorrow. Ngggh... sotired.

And I am SO talking to my roommate about the turning-the-light-on-at-7-in-the-fucking-morning thing tomorrow--seeing as how I will probably not be in the dorm when she is today. *sighs*

Okay, I'm off to start knocking things off the list.

EDIT: Got my shower. Feel more awake now.

Oh, you know, I forgot to mention. Outside the Foreign Language Department in GTM, they had this shelf with free books. I snatched a couple. One's a short, informative book about the Roman Empire. The other is Nightrunners of Bengal by John Masters and on the side, it says, "Viking," so...

Yeah. The title caught my interest. The book itself seems to have seen a lot in it's time. Well, it seems to be a 1951 first edition, maybe. But it's old and musty and smells like it's gotten doused in water a couple of times and was left out to dry and whatnot. But still, I'm curious about what's actually in it--it's definitely fiction. *pokes at the black cover with its red text*

And now I shall work on typing up my Psych homework/essay/thing.

EDIT 2: Um... I think I finished my Psych essay thing?

WHO WANTS TO READ IT? XD

EDIT 3: Note to self: ... find time tomorrow to clean up your side of the room. Sheesh. It gets so messy so easily. Wtf.

In other news! I haven't done any of my readings and whatnot yet, but that's only because today iss pretty much get-stuff-done day. I.e. I went to the bookstore and got my French book (can now do my assignment), I went to Walmart to help Sara shop for things that Andrea asked her to get (bungy cords, atnibacterial soap, and magic eraser). While there, I got some new razors and a book.

A Star Wars book.

...

Cut for spoilers )

I am SO reading this book in the time I have left before work.

Tomorrow is the day for doing homework. Sunday, too. I'm... just kind of tired now and don't want to think much, so reading and relaxing before I have to work 8 to close. Mrrh.

INFP - The "Dreamer"
Temperment: NF (Visionary)

INFPs are introspective, private, creative and highly idealistic individuals that have a constant desire to be on a meaningful path. They are driven by their values and seek peace. Empathetic and compassionate, they want to help others and humanity as a whole. INFPs are imaginitive, artistic and often have a talent for language and writing. They can also be described as easygoing, selfless, guarded, adaptable, patient and loyal.

NFs are introspective, intuitive and highly idealistic. They are subjective, compassionate "feeler" people that desire to contribute goodness and meaning to the lives of others. They are effective at doing this through their nurturing, insightful and encouraging nature. NFs despise conflict. They will do everything they can to make sure their loved ones get along with each other and are happy. NFs are imaginitive, creatively inclined and passionate about their choice causes.

... I got the same result two years ago...

And these recent results say that I'm most like the following fictional characters: E.T. (E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial), Fox Mulder (The X-Files), Rocko (Rocko's Modern Life), Tommy Pickles (Rug-Rats), Bastian Balthazar Bux (The Neverending Story), Doctor Julian Bashir (Star Trek: Deep Space 9), Deanna Troi (Star Trek: The Next Generation) and Wesley Crusher (Star Trek: The Next Generation).

ETA: I forgot to mention some nifty real folks that are of the INFP varity: J. R. R. Tolkien, Shakespeare, Virgil, Princess Diana, Peter Jackson, Neil Diamond, Mary (mother of Jesus), John F. Kennedy, Jr., John (disciple of Jesus), James Taylor, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, George Orwell, Fred Rogers (Mr. Rogers), Dick Clark, etc...

... um. >.>;;;

A-anyway! I plan to have a post about babbling about the last Harry Potter book. Because I need to do a spoilers post of my own, DAMN IT! Finally finished it last night at around 3AM. Started reading it around 2PM, but had to put it down a lot because I had to do stuff like laundry and stuff. Plus, Sara was reading over my shoulder at some points, so I had to slow up my reading and whatnot. Eh. Doesn't matter. Though reading all of that 700+ book in under 12 hours hurt my head. I tried to go to bed after reading it but I was still awake with a headache and plunnies bouncing around in my head until around 4 or 5AM. Ahahaha... I find it funny that I finished the book on Harry's birthday, yo.

And then I had to get up around 9AM to go to work from 10AM to 2PM. Which... I was so out of it, when I got home, at 3PM, I totally just zonked out and was asleep until 5PM.

Oh, and more good news! The other part of my paycheck came in today! I totally have it here with me and am working on calculating what goes where. So ah...

Need to put $19 back into my Savings (because I dipped into it even when I said I shouldn't), and put $20 aside for groceries for the next week. Which... $106.23 - $39 = $67.23.

Not bad.

And now we do the calculations!

Chase - $24
La Capitol - $24
Safe - $13
Pocket - $6.23

Yosh! All of that will get done tomorrow. And ah... I think that's all I need to update on for today!

And I have been SORE all day. I got everything done last night--BY MYSELF. Even if I did a crappy job sweeping and mopping the floors--I TRIED, DAMN IT--I got everything done. Dropped the bain even when Sara told me I didn't have to. Guh.

Slept until 1PM, too. Went to bed at 4AM... yeah. THIS IS ONE TIRED JEVA WE HAVE ON OUR HANDS AND WHAT'S THIS? SHE HAS WORK TONIGHT, YOU SAY! WHAT JOY! MORE HOURS! MORE MONIES! YEYNESS! EXCEPT FOR THE FACT THAT SHE DOESN'T HAVE AN HP BOOK LIKE EVERYONE ELSE, WRRRRRY!

Yeah, I'm just mostly messing with you guys about all of this HP stuff. I'm also very tired and sore and stuff. Yeah, the ibuprofen I took around 11AM or so has taken the edge off of my soreness, but it still lingers. My poor right hand is all like, "I haet j00 and the mop that you fail at using >:[!"

Not to mention my knees and shins. Good god. Why do my shins hurt me so?

Yeah. I'm not upset or anything. Srsly. I'm just messing. XD I'm happy to work long hours because hours = monies! I just wish I wasn't so sore and had a nice book to curl up with and read. E-emo... ;o;

I'm currently reading through the post that the LJ peeps made in response to that post I posted in my last post (ahahaha... love that word--post). You can find it just over here.

Can I just say that the LJ/6A team totally rock in opening their mouths and inserting their feet?

This comment gets gold star stickers, btw.

I might start typing up more of that fic, Fyli and Candy, if I don't keep getting distracted by the LJ/6A!wank. Mmmm... wank.

Also, GIP!
